Top Five Cross Body Bag Patterns 2024

Cross body bags come in different shapes and sizes, some being more formal and others being more casual. Some patterns can be both, depending on the fabric and hardware choices you make too.  Here are our top picks for fun cross body bags to sew in 2024.

1.      Haralson Belt Bag by Noodlehead Sewing Patterns

The Haralson Belt Bag has really had a shining moment over the last couple of years, and it’s showing no sign of slowing down yet. It’s been one of our top selling bag patterns here at Tuesday’s Child Fabrics.

This pattern offers a surprisingly spacious main bag area, with two zipped pockets for keeping your belongings organised and secure. The back zip pocket lies against your body and is the perfect size for your phone, or perhaps your passport if you’re travelling.  The inner zip pocket is great for keys or other valuables.  This bag is compact, stylish, and great for day to night use.

You can buy the pattern here, or perhaps you’d like to pick up our Haralson Belt Bag kit here.

2.      Emerson Crossbody Quilted Bag by The Blanket Statement

If you’re looking for a quilted cross body bag pattern, the Emerson is the one for you! Maybe you will create a patchwork design to show off on your quilted bag, or possibly you’ve got your eye on one of our beautiful quilting cottons?  Whatever you choose, it’s a great bag pattern to make a statement.

This bag can be worn across your body, or around your waist, and the adjustable strap means you can choose how to wear it depending on your daily style.

This bag includes a large main bag area, with a zippered front pocket and an internal slip pocket.

You can pick up the pattern here, and we also stock hardware packs for this bag in a variety of colours and finishes here.

3.      BF Bestie Bag by Black Bird Fabrics

This bag isn’t one we stock a pattern for here at Tuesday’s Child Fabrics, but it’s a solid option in our list of cross body bags. This is a sling style cross body with an adjustable strap. The fully lined bag comes with three different size options, and the choice to include pleats on the gusset, or not.

You can see Lisbeth’s version of the BF Bestie bag on our Instagram page here, and you can head over to Black Bird Fabrics to pick up your own copy of this fun bag here (external link, not affiliated).

4.      Traverse Bag by Noodlehead Sewing Patterns

This bag comes with two size options, and plentiful pockets to help you organise your belongings. The poppered pocket on the front can be split into two smaller slip pockets, and the zippered pocket on the back is great for valuables like your phone. The main bag area is spacious.

This bag is another great option for day to night. You can pick up your copy of the pattern here, and we have some great canvas options in the shop currently that would work well with this pattern.
